Earthbound

Clouds hang low,
olive hues reflected,
frothy curls of seawater
dance on unspoiled beach
around my feet.
They lick my face
with salty kisses.

Walls of green assault the shore,
constant interaction
with the atmosphere.
Gulls perform acrobatics
as they swoop low,
dip slender wings in the air.

Raucous cries resound,
a wild cacophony echoes
on the wind.
They seduce me
into believing I could
fly free on wings.
I catch the roll of the waves
with my knees
realizing I'm grounded
to this surly earth.

Laughter's Lyric

Laughter bubbles up,
the sound enchanting,
creates a fountain,
overflows with happiness.

It reaches out and touches
the lives of others like a cool,
soothing balm, appreciation shown
for what life has to offer.

It softens sorrow,
mends anguish,
wipes away regret
for what might have been.

Life is complex and captivates.
Experience, savor,
view it with merriment;
it heals from within.
